How To Prevent And Treat Adult Acne

Acne is a skin condition which most adults would love to get rid of once and for all.

Following are some basic guidelines for preventing and treating adult acne.

For starters, don't wash more than twice a day and when you do so, use a mild soap or soap-less cleanser. Never scrub your face clean. Using a towel pat your face dry, never rub it.

  • Avoid antibacterial soaps, they won't prevent adult acne.

  • Use a fresh washcloth everyday.

  • Always use an alcohol based astringent immediately after washing your face.
  • Use "noncomedogenic" cosmetics only. These kinds of cosmetics won't cause adult acne.

  • Never pop, squeeze or pick at your pimples. Chances are good you will end up with scaring if you do.

  • Never try to remove blackheads yourself. To avoid scarring, leave any blackhead removal to your doctor or dermatologist.

  • Shampoo your hair at least twice a week. If necessary use a dandruff shampoo.

  • Get in the habit of washing off sweat and oil from your body as soon as possible after exercising.
