What Is Acne Rosacea?

 

Do your have red cheeks? If so you may have acne rosacea. Redness on your cheeks, nose, and chin may be signs of acne rosacea. The term rosacea is pronounced “roh-ZAY-sha".

 

Acne rosacea is also commonly known rosacea. It is a chronic skin condition. This acne like condition consists of flushing. The red coloration comes from the dilation of the capillaries and this can lead to pustules that resemble acne.

 

Middle-aged adults with fair skin are the most likely to get acne rosacea. Unfortunately the cause of rosacea is unknown.

 

It is important to seek the advice of a medical doctor if you suspect you suffer from acne rosacea as severe, untreated rosacea can be disfiguring to your face.

 

If you have this skin condition you will notice that flare-ups tend to occur after extensive sun exposure, during and after exercise and during periods of stress. Spicy food and alcohol may also be triggers.

 

Your Acne Rosacea checklist:

 

Flushing

 

Do you have a history of frequent blushing or flushing? Your redness may come and go. If this happens it is often the earliest sign of the disorder.

 

Persistent redness

 

Do you have persistent facial redness that resembles a blush or sunburn? If so, you are a good candidate for acne rosacea as this is the most common individual sign of rosacea.

 

Bumps and pimples

 

Do you have small red solid bumps or pus-filled pimples? Such signs of acne rosacea may also lead to burning or stinging.

 

Visible blood vessels

 

Do you have visible small blood vessels on your skin? If so they can be removed via a laser treatment that will not affect the surface of your skin.
